It’s been very interesting to see what’s been happening across the country and Hawaii will be having its own protests this weekend. So I thought this topic would be relevant. This video explains how the dynamics of race tend to work in Hawaii, discrimination in Hawaii because, yes, even though we are very diverse, it still exists, and I’ll share experiences that helped me to understand how different the situation is in Hawaii versus the Mainland.
If you’ve never lived in Hawaii or grew up in Hawaii, it’s hard to explain how we view other races since it’s so diverse and mixed. If you want down the street, depending what street, you’ll probably see six to eight people that look different from you. And that’s how it’s always been.
