The Nyabarongo river is a major river in Rwanda, part of the upper headwaters of the Nile.The river begins in Nyungwe Forest, at a location considered by some to be the most distant source of the Nile. This river runs through Rwanda nationwide. You can see the wide, deep and gentle flow of this river outside of Kigali. However, this river has a sad history during the Genocide against Tsuti in 1994. Many people(estimated 10,000) were killed and thrown into the river and floated some 160 km away on the shores of Lake Victoria in Uganda in the Genocide .

This song ‘The Nyabarongo river’ was composed in order to mourn the dead thrown in the Nyabarongo river during the Genocide and remember them. It is inevitable to commemorate each of them never to commit the Genocide again.

We should ask ourselves the reason why we were not able to save them and what we will be able to do for them. This song is a message song to all human beings all over the world. And now, the flow of the Nyabarongo river heals all our pain. Praying "Never Genocide Again!"
